Learning Environment

Outwood Academy City was constructed in 2011 and was purpose built for learning in the 21st century. There are specialist facilities for all subjects, including:

  • a purpose built Science department;
  • custom Music technology suite with recording studio;
  • a hall with auditorium style seating;
  • Drama studios;
  • an Art gallery and devoted artistry spaces;
  • a Design and Technology wing.

Each classroom has its own interactive whiteboard and there are many IT rooms available across the academy. Our excellent sports reputation is reinforced by the sporting facilities including the fitness suite, dance studio, sports hall, floodlit Astroturf pitch and large open sports fields.

Outwood Academy City seeks to provide the best experience for all its stakeholders, and continues to develop its facilities with that in mind. The Learning Resource Centre (LRC) is a well-stocked library for students to loan books and also a teaching space with computer access. In addition to this, students have their own Student Information Desk (SID) to support them on a day-to-day basis.
